OVERVIEW 

The East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) is a World Bank Group funded project of which Kenya Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) is a beneficiary. The project’s development objectives are to increase the access and improve the quality of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in selected Regional Flagship TVET institutes and to support regional integration in East Africa

The project aims to upgrade KIHBT into a Regional Flagship TVET Institute (RFTI) specializing in Highways Technology. The project objectives are to be achieved through a series of activities under the following six components:

1. Strengthening Governance and Management
2. Institutionalizing Industrial Linkages
3. Developing Market relevant Competency-based Training programs
4. Training of TVET Managers and Teachers/Trainers
5. Provision of key Training Facilities and Equipment
6. Outreach and Support for non-project National TVET institutes
