The ICT function was initially under the Electrical and Electronics department of the Institute; however with the growing demand for ICT skills, in the year 2006 it became a fully fledged department offering both ICT services and academic courses namely  Diploma in Computer Studies and computer proficiency certification.

The ICT services section offers ICT function to the entire Institute by handling all that the ICT related services such as internet connectivity, user support, Computers & related accessories maintenance and system administration among other functions.

Currently, the academics section of the department is offering the following courses;
i.    Diploma in Information Communication Technology – KNEC
ii.    Computer proficiency courses  - (Internal certificate recognized by private firms, government ministries and agencies)

It also offers digital literacy skills training to other students in the Institute irrespective of their course areas.

 Objectives

•    To upgrade the ICT skills of all staff in the Institute
•    To equip trainees with relevant technical skills, knowledge, attitudes and values to enable them serve as professional technical personnel
•    To promote creativity and innovation by use of Information Communication Technology
•    To develop research skills using ICT tools
