ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS BRANCH

Electrical and electronics branch was started in 1997 when the former branch of staff training was transformed to a Technical Training Institute (KIHBT)
Since inception the branch has produced a total of 1355 middle level technologists and about 948 artisans most of whom are absorbed in industry as middle level managers, technologists and/or artisans
The branch offers both regular and short term courses which lead to:
  1. Higher Diploma
  2. Diploma Craft Certificates
  3. Proficiency certificate in:
    • Electrical installation
    • Government Trade Test Certificates

The certificates for all diploma and craft courses are awarded by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), with Higher Diploma course certificates coming from either KNEC or Mombasa Polytechnic University College (MPUC). The proficiency and Government Trade Test Certificates are awarded by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT)

OBJECTIVES

  • To equip trainees with relevant technical skills, knowledge, attitude and values to enable them serve as electrical technologists in the construction Engineering industry.
  • To produce electrical technologists to meet the market demand
  • To develop research skills in Electrical/Electronics technology
  • To promote creativity and innovation in technology
